New Remasters
"Bursting Out," "Stormwatch," and "A"
The
next batch of remastered Tull classics are released (April 2004 in USA,
UK already released). "Bursting
Out" now
includes the entire original LP track list and "A" even includes
a DVD quality copy of the "Slipstream" video,
the long out of print VHS. "Stormwatch," Tull's
dark, political classic
focusing
on
environmental
concerns, marks
the end of the group's "folk rock" period of the late 1970's.

Recorded during the European "Heavy Horses" tour, this was Tull's first exclusively live album and serves as a solid 10th anniversary greatest hits collection as well featuring standards such as "Aqualung," "Locomotive Breath," "Songs from the Wood," and "Skating Away," among others. This new release returns songs cut from previous CD releases (especially in the USA) such as "Bouree" and "Quatrain".

Stormwatch - Original

Very dark, brooding, and political is this last Tull release with
the 1970's band lineup. Songs like "North Sea Oil," "Something's
on the Move"
and "Dark Ages" reflected Anderson's pessimism about the industrial
world's future and ecological threats. Often considered the last of three
successive Tull "folk rock" albums (others being "Songs from
the Wood" and "Heavy
Horses"),
it is far more electric and less acoustical than its kin. The album, however,
includes an acoustical fan favourite, "Dun Ringill."
Four bonus tracks include "A Stitch in Time," "Crossword," "Kelpie,"
and "King Henry's Madrigal."

Originally destined as Anderson's first solo album, "A" became a dramatically different Tull product with a new lineup (except Barre), minimal flute, and a lot of electronic keyboards and Eddie Jobson's ("Roxy Music") electronic violin. Not suprisingly, the album was a shock to many Tull fans and remains quite controversial to this day though it is often cited by critics as one of the band's best works.
Depsite instrumentation differences, the general style maintains the surprisingly "folkie" feel of its album contemporaries. Yet, the album heralds Tull's early 1980's segway into electronic music and themes such as the Cold War and economic recession.
This new release contains a remaster (with stereo sound) of the "Slipstream" video. The film mixes live footage of the "A" tour with various videos including the webmaster's favourite, "Sweet Dream," with Ian appearing as Aqualung and Dracula and apparently unintentional nods to various Tull songs and albums.
